Local property owners have already paid our fair share to support this college. Yet the current trustees have voted for another tax grab in Measure P. I will stand for responsible spending and ensure funds are properly allocated where intended.
Closing the college to in-person instruction damaged the future of many local students. My goal would be to keep that from happening again. Healthy students do not spread disease. Adult students should make health decisions for themselves, whether vaccine or mask. Furthermore, I will protect women's spaces. Female student athletes should not have to compete or shower with biological males.
Trustees need to retain “Under God” in the pledge before each meeting.
Incumbent trustees voted to put Measure P on the ballot which provides little accountability, while adding more debt to local taxpayers. https://www.independent.com/2024/08/21/no-on-sbccs-measure-p/ https://www.sbcurrent.com/p/no-no-no-on-measure-p
Local students should be given priority when registering for classes. Currently limited vocational career training and remedial math and English courses should be made more available, as they are highly desired and needed by our local students.
Rated #1 Value College in the nation in 2020, SB City College does not make the current WalletHub list of top 77 colleges in California for 2024. We need to restore our beloved City College to the level of excellence for which it was once renowned. https://ktla.com/news/california/here-are-californias-top-77-community-colleges-study/
Administration needs to hold firm and not allow biological males to compete with women. Neither should men be allowed into female athletic spaces nor restrooms.
Only two thirds of City College students attend in-person instruction, with less than half of them attending classes full time.
Adult students should be free to consult with their own doctor for medical treatment. Acceptance of experimental vaccines and face covers should only be voluntary.
My name is Lisa Sloan, and I am running for SBCC Trustee. After earning a Bachelor of Science at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, I moved to Santa Barbara where I worked for 37 years as an Environmental Health Specialist. My husband and two sons are alumni of SBCC. I would be honored to receive your vote.
